Mazuma has slightly more heat and is usually larger. Daruma has a sweeter taste. Our Mazuma rhizomes have grown up to 320g (0.7 lb) and Daruma up to 220g (0.5 lb)
We now hold the North American record for wasabi size: 320g A 249g Mazuma Rhizome on harvest day.
The same Rhizome after arriving in Germany; two days later: we are asked quite often about the quality of the product after harvest an shipping. This photo shows how well the rhizomes travel. Wasabi Rhizomes: Daruma Variety; 210g. This is only one year and 3 weeks old. The secret to our growth and quality is the pure, dedicated coastal mountain stream water we use.
This photo indicates the size ranges: XL 125g-320g (200g shown) L 90-124g; M 60-89g; S 40-59g; SuperSmall and offshoots 25-39g.
